ADC seeks data on visually impaired govt employees

RAWALPINDI: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Maleha Jamal on Friday sought data from the social welfare department on visually impaired government employees to be submitted to the commissioner’s office as soon as possible.

While chairing a meeting reviewing process on the hiring of disabled people, she directed officials of various departments to ensure disabled employees are paid on time and to make it possible for them to be transferred close to their residences.

She assured the concerned officials of complete assistance in fulfilling the legitimate demands of disabled people and said almost all departments have completed this procedure, while the remaining have been directed to ensure to do so.

Ms Jamal said the Punjab government has allocated a 3pc jobs quota for disabled people in government departments.

District Social Welfare Officer Aslam Matila also briefed the meeting on the implementation of the jobs quota, saying it has been implemented in the Rawalpindi district.

He said transfers to chosen places have been suspended due to the Lahore High Court ban on transfers.

Mr Matila also said disability cards would be issued to people soon, and all recruitments have been merit-based.
