Reconstruction of Haripur road demanded

HARIPUR: The dilapidated condition of Pind Kamal Khan Road has been constantly irking the commuters as it has yet to attract the attention of authorities, according to residents of the area.

They said that it was the only access route to more than a dozen localities. Linking Khanpur Road from Mang village stop, the three-kilometre Pind Kamal Khan Road was the only access road to Kali Tarar Bala, Bandi Seehran, Pind Kamal Khan, Galam Pind and other villages up to Durunian and Noordi, they added.

They said that the road had been in bad condition for the last several years. They said that authorities filled the ditches temporarily only to silence the local people, who time and again raised voice against the pathetic attitude of the officials.

The local people including Mubashar, Basheer, Tanvir, Malak Saad and Waseem Gujar said that having no alternative access route for reaching those localities from Khanpur side, they had to use the dilapidated road.

They said that they had brought the problem into the notice of local authorities and political representatives many a time but to no avail.

The officials of communication and works department, when contacted, said that repair and reconstruction of the road was included the Annual Development Programme. They said that reconstruction of the road would be started after release of funds.

GAS CONNECTION: despite issuance of orders by the consumer court, the SNGPL authorities have failed to provide gas connection to a complainant.

Advocate Junaid Ahmed, a resident of Muhallah Darul Uloom sector No.1 Khalabat Township, said that he had applied for provision of gas connection to his house but the SNGPL authorities kept on delaying it.

He said that he moved the consumer court that summoned head of the local office and he submitted an undertaking, promising to provide gas connection to the complainant’s house by the end of 2018 but the promise was not fulfilled.

Mr Ahmed threatened to file a contempt of court petition against SNGPL authorities if they did not provide gas connection to his house within the next two days.
