Siraj raps govt over lack of legislation

LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami emir Senator Sirajul Haq has chided the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government for neither legislating nor introducing judicial reforms during its first five months in power.

Speaking at the concluding session of the JI central Shoora at Mansoora here on Sunday, Mr Haq said the PTI’s promises of solving the problems of south Punjab and Karachi had not been fulfilled and people were still awaiting the “revolution” in the social services the party had pledged.

The JI chief said the PTI had come into power riding the slogan of change, but unfortunately no change was visible so far.

He said the masses had not been given any relief, while price hike and additional taxes were pushing them against the wall.

He said because of lack of performance by the government, the chief justice of Pakistan took various actions.

He stressed that documentation of economy, reduction in non-development spending and an honest leadership were prerequisites for putting the country’s economy on the track. He called for a change in the style of government to solve people’s problems.
