PPP criticizes Mukarram’s shifting to Mianwali

ISLAMABAD, June 28: The People’s Party Parliamentarians has said the shifting of Peer Mukarram from Adiala to Mianwali jail is the worst victimization of its workers by the regime.

In a statement here on Tuesday, the PPP said Mr Mukarram was shifted to Mianwali jail last night on the pretext that he was being taken to hospital for treatment.

Earlier, he was forcibly taken from a hospital in Islamabad to the Adiala Jail despite doctors’ advice to keep him in hospital.

The statement jointly issued by Makhdoom Amin Fahim, vice- chairman, and Raja Pervez Ashraf, secretary-general of the PPP, said the continued victimization of workers was to avenge the party’s refusal to accept “the dictatorial agenda and anti-people policy of the rulers.”
