Fazl, Siraj offer condolences on death of JUI-F patron

SWABI: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Jamaat-i-Islami emir Sirajul Haq on Sunday visited the residence of late Maulana Hamdullah Jan in Dagai here to offer condolences. The religious scholar was JUI-F patron-in-chief, who passed away two days ago.

Speaking on the occasion, they said that the late Maulana was a towering religious personality.

Meanwhile, delegates from Afghanistan and all parts of Pakistan continued to visit the residence of the late scholar to offer condolences.

Mr Rehman and Mr Haq said the vacuum created with the passing away of Hamdullah Jan could not be filled because he was thoroughly devoted to religious duty.

Mr Rehman said the religious scholars had played a key role in educating the people about the evil designs of anti-Islam forces and united them to face the emerging challenges with determination.

Paying rich tributes to Hamdullah Jan, he said the deceased was great asset of not only of JUI-F but also of Islam as he continued Islamic teachings for over five decades, producing thousands of competent students.

The JI chief also praised the late Maulana’s services, saying his contribution to the religion would keep him alive forever.

“Due to his outstanding religious knowledge, he was highly respected in Afghanistan and various Middle Eastern countries. We are proud of his role,” he said.

Mr Haq said religious scholars and institutions had played a great role in imparting education to the youngsters. He said those targeting religious institutions were actually enemies of Islam.

Meanwhile, Maulana Mohammad Tayyab, chief of Ishaat Taheed Wa Sunaah, said Hamadullah Jan’s contribution to the spread of religious education would be remembered forever. He said he taught at his Madressah, Jamia Mazhara-ul-Ulum, for several decades.
