Drug pushers held in Mardan raids

MARDAN: The police claimed on Wednesday to have arrested nine drug traffickers during raids in various parts of the district.

District police officer Sajjad Khan told journalists during a press conference that on a tip off about the illegal activities of smugglers, he constituted two teams to take prompt action against them for illegal business of selling ice, heroin and hashish.

He claimed that the police teams arrested seven accused in Sheikh Maltoon Town area identified as Sardaraz, Ashraf, Asfandyar, Khalil, Hassan, Jan Mohammad and Juma Baz.

He said 4,500 gram ice, 1,000 gram heroin and 5,000 gram hashish were recovered from their possession.

He said the arrested persons were part of a provincial drug pushers’ gang.

Similarly, he said, in another action, police arrested two more accused in Takhtbhai locality while carrying 1,000-gram ice and 1,000-gram heroin in a car.
