HYDERABAD: Kidnapping of woman denied
HYDERABAD, July 1: Zakir Hussain Rind, a cousin of Waris Rind, who has been named as the main accused in the alleged kidnapping case of homoeopath Roshan Rind, has termed the case absolutely false. He said the whole farce had been staged at the behest of Wali Muhammad Khoso at whose clinic Roshan Rind was working.
He claimed Roshan was not a doctor but a lady health visitor.
Speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Friday, Mr Rind demanded that the inquiry of the case should be entrusted to a high court judge and if Waris Rind was found guilty, he was prepared to accept any punishment.
He said Waris Rind had absconded because an FIR had been registered against him and he would personally appear before journalists to present facts after filling of a pre-arrest bail application in a relevant court.
He distributed copies of Nikahnama and some other documents which indicated that Roshan Rind was legal wife of Waris Rind.
Mr Rind said the family of Roshan had opposed the marriage therefore she had appeared in the court of the first class magistrate in Karachi on November 10, 2003, and married Waris Rind on her own will.
He said on July 23, 2004, she had given a similar statement in the court of civil judge Matli, Badin district.
He said it was indubitable from all legal deeds that Roshan was wife of Waris Rind.
Zakir Rind said that Waris had also borne all educational expenses of his wife.
He said her medical report was also proof of the fact that she was no more virgin.
Replying to a questioner, he said Waris was 45-year-old and had two wives.
He said Waris would not divorce Roshan and added that if she wanted separation, she should knock the door of court.
He called upon the Press not to make Roshan Rind another Mukhtaran Mai or Dr Shazia Memon.
Meanwhile, activists of the Pakistan Human Rights Forum staged a demonstration outside the press club in support of Roshan Rind.
Speaking on the occasion, Waheeda Parveen, Rani Burfat and Kazbano alleged that human rights violations were on the rise in Sindh and women were the main target of oppression.
They demanded that Waris Rind and other culprits should be arrested.
Roshan Rind said the medical report in her case was a conspiracy to spoil the case.
