HYDERABAD: Retired army officer posted at Sida

HYDERABAD, July 1: The coordinator of the National Drainage Programme, Sindh, Brigadier (rtd) Abdul Haq, has been appointed as vice-chairman of the Sindh Irrigation and Drainage Authority, sources told Dawn on Friday. The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the Sida board held in Karachi on Wednesday. Sindh Irrigation Minister Nadir Akmal Laghari, who is chairman of Sida, presided over the meeting.

Mr Haq has accepted the new assignment.

The meeting decided that a new managing director of Sida would be appointed in place of Ali Mohammad Baloch, who is due for retirement on July 21. The irrigation minister said an advertisement should be issued in newspapers inviting applications for the post of managing director.

SPSC: The controller of examinations of the Sindh Public Service Commission has announced names of successful candidates interviewed by the commission for posts of physician (BPS-18) and chest specialist (BPS-18) in the health department, government of Sindh.

DEAN: The Sindh governor has appointed Prof (Dr) Mohammad Yar Khuhawar, director of the Dr M. A. Kazi Institute of Chemistry, as the dean of the faculty of natural sciences, University of Sindh.
