‘Chitral students getting support for education’
CHITRAL: Regional Organisation for Supporting Education (ROSE) here has helped hundreds of talented students from Chitral in their pursuit of higher education, according to its chairman Hidayatullah.
Talking to mediapersons here, the ROSE chairman said that only few people in Chitral had the capacity to support their children for higher education. He said that during the last decade the growing number of youth committing suicide was a problem that baffled the civil society. However, it was found that either they had been withdrawn from the professional colleges or were not being able even to get admission because of poverty.
He said that the local youth performed well at every level of education, but were unable to materialise their dream of becoming doctor or engineer and this was the beginning of the problem. He said that to help such students he approached the affluent people with the appeal to provide them with financial assistance, which got encouraging response.
Mr Hidayatullah said that half of beneficiaries of the scholarships and financial support of ROSE, which was established five years ago, were girls. He said that apart from supporting the students in the professional colleges and universities those pursuing studies in different subjects in the universities were also provided with financial assistance.
IMMUNISATION: The National Immunisation Days will start in 10 union councils of Chitral from Jan 27 (today), as the campaign was deferred earlier due to snowfall.
EPI district coordinator Dr Fayaz Rumi said that 49,058 children below five would be vaccinated in the union councils of Arandu, Ashrait, Drosh-I, Drosh-II, Koh, Mulkhow, Charun and Denin, Chitral-I and Chitral-II. Published in Dawn, January 27th, 2019
