Gujranwala towns’ notification opposed

GUJRANWALA, July 1: The division of the city tehsil council into four towns is a conspiracy of influential politicians, allege the Pakistan Medical Association representatives and former nazims and naib nazims of union councils. At a meeting presided over by PMA President Dr Zahid Mahmood, the participants said Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi had announced Rs100 million for Gujranwala uplift projects, but not a single scheme had been completed so far.

The plan of establishing a medical college in Gujranwala was still not materialized while the cardiology unit had been transferred to the tehsil headquarter Wazirabad.

Contaminated water, defective cleanliness and drainage system and heaps of garbage had made the public life miserable. They said now all resources of the city would be divided into new towns, which was an injustice to citizens.
