Upper Chitral residents demand smooth power supply

CHITRAL: The residents of Upper Chitral district have warned that they will stage a sit-in outside the Golen Gol hydropower station if the government doesn’t ensure smooth electric supply to their area by Feb 12.

Addressing the meeting organised by Tehreek Huqooq-i-Upper Chitral here on Monday, Mohammad Salam, Pervez Laal and other residents complained about the ‘denial’ of electric supply to 14 union councils of Upper Chitral despite the production of surplus electricity by the Golen Gol power station.

They criticised Wapda and Pesco over their misery and said the two organisations had no reason for denying them surplus electricity.

The speakers said former prime minister Nawaz Sharif had announced the supply of electricity to all villages of the district before his government established a grid station in Juti Lusht area for the purpose but the residents continued to be without smooth electric supply.

They said the residents of Upper Chitral would go to every extent to claim the due right of electric supply.

WRITTEN TEST: Candidates for the posts of biology and mathematics subject specialists in the elementary and secondary education department have rejected ‘faulty’ results of the written test.

They warned that they would stage a sit-in outside the KP Public Service Commission’s offices if they didn’t review results within a week.

In a news release issued here on Monday, the candidates said the paper ofobjective type questions along with their answers had been posted on the KPPSC website helping them assess their performance.

They claimed that their papers were wrongly marked and thus, causing unfair deduction of marks.

The candidates warned that they would stage a sit-in outside the public service commission’s offices if the test results were not revised within a week.
