Youth urged to drum up support for Kashmir

LAHORE: Renowned Kashmiri leader and human rights activist Mushaal Mullick has said that Indian forces are using chemical weapons on innocent Kashmiris and urged the youth to drum up international support for the cause.

She was addressing a seminar organised by Punjab University Directorate of Students Affairs in connection with Kashmir Solidarity Day here on Tuesday.

PU Dean Faculty of Engineering and Technology Prof Dr Taqi Zahid Butt, Dean Faculty of Oriental Learning Prof Dr Saleem Mazhar, Students Affairs Director Dr Asmatullah, Registrar Dr Muhammad Khalid Khan, faculty members and a large number of students were present on the occasion.

Addressing the seminar, Mrs Mushaal Mullick said the recent report of the United Nations had highlighted Indian atrocities in held Kashmir which was a strong evidence to prosecute Indian forces in the International Court of Justice.

She said that Indian forces were involved in target killing of Kashmiri intellectuals and many engineers, pilots and PhD scholars had been martyred.

“Can you imagine what will be life under curfew, unemployment, no intellectual freedom and without medicine, electricity, internet and food?” she said, asking the participants to use social media and directly send emails to the UN secretary general in support of the Kashmir cause.

“The Kashmiri people love two things i.e. freedom and Pakistan. Kashmir is not the issue of piece of land but Kashmiris’ right to self-determination,” she said.

Addressing the seminar, Prof Dr Taqi Zahid Butt said the martyrdom of Burhan Wani created a new wave of passion of liberty in Kashmiri people.

He said PU teachers, employees and students were extending full support to Kashmiri people and teachers would motivate their students for using social media to raise voice in favour of the right to self-determination.
