Six TLP activists held for forcing shops’ closure

HYDERABAD: Police detained six activists of Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) in Hyderabad for forcing closure of shops in the wake of dismissal of appeal against Aasia Bibi’s acquittal in a blasphemy case as charged workers took to streets in at least two towns on Wednesday.

The TLP workers who were participating in a rally were reportedly forcing shopkeepers to pull down shutters at Nishat Chowk when police used batons to disperse them and detained six of the protesters. They were shifted to CIA Centre Hyderabad.

The detainees were identified as Sufi Raza Abbasi, Farhan Qadri, Usman Qadri, Muddassir Raza Arain, Saud Rajput and Farhan Qadri.

In Nawabshah, TLP activists held a demonstration outside local press club against the Supreme Court decision. The protesters were carrying banners and chanting slogans against the decision.
