Policing plan devised for Kohat district

KOHAT: The district police here on Wednesday released the annual policing plan 2019 to improve administration, traffic management and enforcement of law according to the spirit of 2017 Reform Act.

The plan issued by the DPO office envisaged effective policing, building capacity and improving traffic system, investigation and service to the people.

It also set a standard operating procedure after reviewing the five years record of incidents in high-risk zones to control crimes. A traffic police plan was also devised to create awareness among people of the laws to control accidents. The plan stressed greater community policing and police-public liaison.

VOTE TRANSFER: The district election commission, Kohat, has extended deadline for the people to transfer their votes to the home address mentioned in their computerised national identity card and they are being provided final chance to make their votes valid again by March 31, 2019.

However, the process has been closed in newly-merged tribal area tehsil of Darra Adamkhel where provincial elections are scheduled to take place before Ramazan.

Addressing a press conference, district election commissioner Habibur Rehman Khattak said that votes of those who did not transfer their addresses had become null and void after expiry of earlier deadline of Dec 31, 2018. He said that to save the large number of votes from becoming invalid he was extending the deadline under powers given to him by invoking sections 219 (A) and 36 of 2017 Election Act so that the votes could be transferred according to the CNIC.

He said he had appointed assistant divisional education officer, Kohat, Abid Hussain to receive fresh forms for transfer of votes at the district education office, for Kohat tehsil, Nazeer Badshah at assistant sub-divisional education office for Lachi tehsil and subject specialist Ameer Mohammad Khan at the government higher secondary school for Gumbat tehsil.
