Smith debuts as Genie in Aladdin

Disney has released a minute-long trailer for its live-action remake of the 1992 animated movie musical Aladdin. The clip, which has gotten nearly two million views since it was posted on YouTube, features Will Smith as his blue Genie character.

Aladdin’s iconic wish granter is seen bare-chested and bald-headed, except for a long, high ponytail. He is also is wearing a gold chain around his neck and bracelets around his wrists. In the preview, Genie appears when Aladdin enters a desert cave, then finds and rubs a lamp.

“You really don’t know who I am? Genie? Wishes? Lamp? None of that ringing a bell?” Genie asks his confused new master.

The movie is due in theatres on May 24.


Nick Jonas returns in Jumanji sequel

Nick Jonas is set to reprise his role as Alex/Jefferson ‘Seaplane’ McDonough in Sony’s upcoming sequel to 2017’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. Jonas made the announcement on Instagram alongside a .gif of himself putting on sunglasses from the film.

“Guess who’s back ... Let’s go people! The #Jumanji sequel is on the way and I couldn’t be more excited to bring Alex back to the big screen,” Jonas said.

Alex, in Welcome to the Jungle had been stuck in the Jumanji video game for 20 years as his avatar, Jefferson ‘Seaplane’ McDonough. Jonas represented the avatar in the film.

Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan are also returning for the sequel alongside director Jake Kasdan. The sequel is set to arrive in theatres on December 13.


Missing Link, a sasquatch movie

Zach Galifianakis voices a lonely sasquatch named Susan who is in search of his family in the latest trailer for upcoming stop-motion animated comedy, Missing Link.

The clip also features Hugh Jackman voicing explorer Sir Lionel Frost, who teams up with Susan in order to help the creature find his missing yeti cousins. The pair embark on a globe-trotting adventure. Adelina Fortnight, voiced by Zoe Saldana, also joins in on the adventure.

“The charismatic Sir Lionel Frost considers himself to be the world’s foremost investigator of myths and monsters. The trouble is none of his small-minded high-society peers seems to recognise this. Sir Lionel’s last chance for acceptance by the adventuring elite rests on travelling to America’s Pacific Northwest to prove the existence of a legendary creature. A living remnant of Man’s primitive ancestry. The Missing Link,” reads a synopsis.

The film is set to release in theatres on April 12.
