Bahawalpur BISE changes three officials supervising matric exam

BAHAWALPUR: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) has announced action against two superintendents and a deputy superintendent of the matriculation examination centres for their alleged violation of the SOPs.

A press release issued by BISE PRO Waqar Sheikh said Controller of Examinations Tahir Hussain Jaffery conducted a surprise visit to the examination centres and found that superintendent Muhammad Ismail and deputy superintendent Muhammad Tufail Rashid of the Sadiq Abbas High School, Dera Nawab Sahib (Ahmedpur East), and superintendent Muhammad Khalid of examination centre of the Government High School, Ahmedpur East, had failed to observe the SOPs announced by the Board.

The superintendents and a deputy superintendent were removed and replaced by new officials who will conduct the examination from Monday (today).

AWARD: Deputy Commissioner Shozeb Saeed on Sunday awarded an honorary shield along with US $1,000 to a woman polio worker.

The monetary award has been given to Ms Zahida on behalf of a team of the International Health Organization (IHO) for her best performance during the anti-polio campaign despite the fact that she was injured during the drive. The DC also gave away commendation certificates to several other polio workers for their contribution.

District Coordinator (Prevention of Polio) Dr Zakir Ali said the district was declared polio-free after two samples from different sewerage disposals had been obtained and analysed.

The DC appreciated the efforts of the polio workers who, he said, deserved praise for ensuring polio-free districts.

Officials said arrangements were afoot to hold a special anti-polio campaign from March 25 in the district.

ENCROACHMENT: Assistant Commissioner (City) Ms Rabia Sial, along with police, on Sunday conducted an anti-encroachment drive behind the historic Jamia Masjid Al-Sadiq.

The district administration has taken the action near the mosque for the first time, demolishing the shops and clearing the streets off illegal structures.
