LAHORE: Noted artist, calligrapher and writer Bashir Moojid died after a protracted illness at a local hospital on Sunday. He was 90.
Moojid was laid to rest at a graveyard in Mughalpura. He was the author of five books -- Musawarana Khatati, Nadeem Nama, Boltay Rung Sochti Lakerain, Rung Nairung and Beetay Howay Din Kuch Aisay Hain.
He was the last artist to have assisted South Asia’s great masters Ustad Abdul Rehman Chughtai and Ustad Allah Bakhsh.
Moojid also received Tamgha-i-Imtiaz from the government of Pakistan for his outstanding performance in calligraphy. He received the honour for his calligraphy art on the shrine of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh.
He has left behind a son and four daughters.
