QUETTA: Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani has held out an assurance to provincial lawmakers that from now onwards vacancies will be filled with the candidates of the same district where the posts are created.

Responding to the opposition’s objection during a session of the Balochistan Assembly on Saturday, the chief minister claimed that his government had changed the 30-year-old recruitment policy in the province and said the tests and interviews would be held in the candidates’ home districts.

Speaker Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo presided over the assembly session which started one hour and 40 minutes late. The delay displeased the speaker who said the government was too weak to control its members.

Speaking on a point of order, Adviser to the CM Bushra Rind regretted that late beginning of the assembly’s proceedings had become a routine and urged the speaker to take a decision in this regard.

Balochistan Assembly elects members of 19 standing committees

Mr Bizenjo directed the government to appoint a chief whip and asked him to ensure timely presence of treasury members in the house.

The house unanimously approved the Local Govern­ment (Amendment) Bill, 2019. Minister for Local Government Saleh Bhootani had tabled the bill.

The house elected members of 19 standing committees.

Treasury members will head 10 standing committees, while nine committees will be headed by opposition members.

The Accounts Committee will be headed by an opposition member.

The members will elect chairmen of the committees with consensus.

Minister Asadullah Baloch, Asghar Khan Achakzai, Tariq Magsi, Bushra Rind, Yar Mohammad Rind, Asghar Tareen and Sanaullah Baloch were inducted as members of the Standing Committee for Planning and Development.

Raheem Mengal, Mohammad Nawaz, Syed Fazal Agha, Ahmed Nawaz Baloch, Nasrullah Zeeray, Dinesh Kumar and Gohram Bugti will be members of the Standing Committee for Housing and Physical Plan­ning, Highways and Construction.

Fareeda Bibi, Gohram Bugti, Meer Naimat Zehri, Noor Mohammad Dummar, Mohammad Khan Otman­khail, Shakeela Naveed and Mukhi Sham Lal will be members of the Standing Committee for Information, Sports, Tourism, Museum and Libraries.

Ahmed Nawaz Baloch, Molvi Noorullah, Zubeda Khair Khuwa, Titas Johnsen, Nasrullah Zeeray, Mohammad Arif Hassani and Mohammad Khan Lehri will be members of the Standing Committee for Social Welfare, Zakat, Minority Affairs, Haj and Youth Affairs.

Laila Tareen, Sardar Sarfaraz Chakar Domki, Fareeda Bibi, Sardar Abdullah Rehman Kethran, Mitha Khan Kakar, Mohammad Nawaz, Meer Akbar Mengal will be members of the Standing Committee for Home, Tribal Affairs, Prison and Provincial Disaster Management Authority.

Dr Rubaba, Arif Mohamamad Hassani, Zamrak Khan Achakzai, Zahoor Buledi, Saleh Bhootani, Meer Hamal Kalmati, Zubeda Khair Khuwa will be members of the Standing Committee for Health and Population.

Abdul Wahid Siddiqui, Meer Zahid Raiki, Shakeela Naveed, Zeenat Shahwani, Banokhail, Umar Khan Jamali and Bushra Rind will be members of the Standing Committee for Education, Literacy, Presidential Programme CDWA, Quality Education and Science and Information Technology.

Qadir Ali Nail, Masood Khan Loni, Mir Akbar Askani, Malik Naeem Bazai, Saleem Khosa, Fazal Agha and Malik Naseer Shahwani will be members of the Standing Committee for Local Government, BDA, Gwadar Development Authority and Urban Planning and Development.

Molvi Noorullah, Raheem Mengal, Mohammad Nawaz, Sanaullah Baloch, Mubeen Khan Khilji and Meer Naseebullah Marri will be members of the Standing Committee for Quetta Greater Water Supply Project.

Akbar Mengal, Zahid Ali Raiki, Fazal Agha, Hamal Kalmati, Zeenat Shahwani, Mohammad Khan Lehri and Umar Khan Jamali will be members of the Standing Committee for Irrigation and Energy, Environment and Wildlife.
