Snakebite kills boy in Murree

MURREE: Snakebite killed a 13-year-old boy in Khanni Taak village of Murree on Tuesday.

Villagers alleged the boy could have been saved, had antivenom been available at Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Murree where he was shifted soon after the incident. The patient was referred to Rawalpindi but he died on his way to Rawalpindi.

Villagers protested that despite tall claims by government, such essential lifesaving drugs were not available in the main hospital and this took the life of a boy.

When contacted Medical Superintendent of Murree hospital Dr. Faiza Kanawal said that snakebite medicines were available at the hospital and she was not aware of any such incident and said that she would check the record and then give any details about the incident.
