Rare Harry Potter first edition with typos sold

A copy of the first book in the Harry Potter series featuring some rare typos sold for more than $90,000 in a London auction. Auction house Bonhams said the first-edition copy of Harry Potter and Philosopher’s Stone — known in the US as Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone — attracted a high bid of $90,074.

The specific edition is famed in the Potter fandom for containing a handful of typos, including misspelling the word ‘Philosopher’ and the repetition of ‘1 wand’ on the list of items the boy wizard needs to obtain for school.

“Like most enduring books aimed at younger readers, the Harry Potter books also have wide appeal to adults and there is a strong market among collectors for first editions. This copy is in excellent condition — one of the very best I’ve seen,” said Matthew Haley, Bonhams head of books and manuscripts.

Mckenna Grace to star in next Ghostbusters adventure

Captain Marvel and Designated Survivor alum Mckenna Grace is to star in writer-director Jason Reitman’s upcoming Ghostbusters movie, expected to open in theatres in 2020.

“Meet the family,” Reitman tweeted along with photos of the three actors.

When the Ghostbusters project was announced in January, Reitman said the film would not be a reboot of the franchise, but rather a contemporary sequel to 1984’s Ghostbusters and 1989’s Ghostbusters II, which his father, Ivan Reitman, helmed. The next movie will ignore a 2016 version of Ghostbusters that featured different stars, characters and mythology from the first two films.

Angelina Jolie to star in The Eternals?

Angelina Jolie is being eyed to star in Disney and Marvel’s next comic book epic, The Eternals.

The Eternals was created by legendary comic book artist and writer Jack Kirby in 1976. The title followed near-immortal beings known as Eternals and their monstrous counterparts, the Deviants, who were created by cosmic beings known as Celestials.

Details concerning the plot of the film are being kept under wraps. It is unclear which character Jolie could potentially portray.

Marvel has not announced which films it plans on releasing in 2020, with the comic book giant having secured release dates for May 1 and November 6. The studio will next release Avengers: Endgame on April 26.

Jolie will next be seen in Disney’s Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, which is set to arrive in theatres on October 18.
