Power meters stolen in Haripur
HARIPUR: Unknown persons have stolen electricity meters from outside the residences of consumers in Malikyar village.
Raja Mohammad Wazir and Habibur Rehman of Malikyar village told the police on Tuesday that some unknown persons removed their single-phase energy meters that were installed on the boundary walls outside their houses late on Monday night.
The complainants said that power supply to their homes disconnected around midnight and they thought it was due to power outage, but when they got up on Tuesday morning they found that their electricity meters were missing from the walls.
They said that miscreants had earlier too set a couple of energy meters on fire in the same village.
Meanwhile, police claimed to have arrested an alleged thief and recovered stolen goats from his possession.
District police officer Zahid Ullah Jan said that 26 goats were stolen from the cattle pen of a shepherd Mohammad Ayub in Kotnajibullah on Saturday night.
During investigation, the police traced the accused later identified as Khaista Gul, a resident of Mansehra, and recovered the stolen goats from his possession. Police have registered a case against the accused.
JASHN-I-HAZARA: The three-day Jashn-i-Hazara festival ended here the other day. The festival attracted hundreds of visitors, including women and children.
Bull race, kabaddi, Meena Bazaar and mushaira were prominent events.
Over 200 pairs of bulls of different species were brought from across Hazara, Attock, Pindi Gheb and surrounding areas and the owners entertained the audience with bull race that was held at Hazara Phosphate Ground.
On the third and final day, tent pegging, kabaddi, ram and rooster fight and gymnastic competitions were held.
MNA Ali Khan Jadoon and district nazim Akhtar Nawaz distributed prizes among the winning teams and best performers of different sports and cultural activities.
