Ex-ACE official named NAB deputy chairman

ISLAMABAD: Hussain Asghar, former head of the Anti-Corruption Estab­l­ishment (ACE), Punjab, has been appointed deputy chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), said a notification issued by the law ministry on Thursday.

“The president in consultation with chairman NAB has been pleased to appoint Hussain Asghar as deputy chairman NAB in terms of section 7 of National Accountability Ordinance, 1999, with immediate effect for a period of three years,” the notification said.

Mr Asghar, an experienced officer of the Police Services of Pakistan group, worked the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for a long time. He also served as director general of the ACE, Punjab.

Mr Asghar has replaced Imtiaz Tajwar who had served as deputy chairman of the anti-graft watchdog for three years and whose contract expired on October 18, 2018. Since then, the post of NAB deputy chairman had remained vacant.
