Judge raids Thatta SSP office
THATTA: The third civil judge and judicial magistrate Imran Ameer raided SSP House in Makli on Wednesday over reports that police had kept a junk dealer in wrongful confinement at the office. But the detainee had reportedly been moved to some other place before the judge’s arrival.
Advocate Pir Tariq submitted an application to sessions court, complaining that Makli police had detained four junk dealers and later released three after getting heavy bribe but did not free the fourth identified as Sikandar Aslam, nor did they inform his relatives about his whereabouts.
The court took action on the application and appointed the civil judge as raid commissioner to raid the SSP House.
The raiding party claimed that Sikandar was whisked away to some other place before the judge’s arrival.
The detainee’s relatives said in the application that they feared for the life of their loved one and sought his immediate recovery.
SSP Shabbir Sethar denied reports of raid on his office and said that some suspects had been picked up by Makli police after disclosures of a bike lifter about their involvement in the crime.
