LHC urged to follow timescale promotion policy

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has been urged to implement the timescale promotion policy approved by the Punjab governor.

In two separate representations submitted to the administration committee of the LHC, senior court assistant Akmal Khan and personal assistant Irfan Zia Butt submitted that the governor had recently approved a policy for promotions of officers to the next regular grade who have served in the same scale even when they had the opportunity of promotion, but were not promoted due to less number of posts in the upper tier.

The applicants contended that the posts of junior and senior clerks and assistants have been upgraded multiple times since 2007 as officials working on these posts were enjoying huge benefits besides regular promotions.

The applicants stated that they and several other employees of the LHC were working in the same scale for more than 10 years. They pleaded that the employees will be discriminated against if the department did not implement the current policy of timescale promotion.
