HYDERABAD: Peak water discharge at Kotri

HYDERABAD, July 20: Normal flood water is passing through the Kotri Barrage at its peak position with a discharge of 167,928 cusecs at the Kotri downstream on Wednesday. According to a Kotri Barrage official, Mr Raheem Qureshi, it was peak time of the normal flood that is passing through the barrage as upstream level was recorded at 206,200 cusecs of water.

He claimed that embankments are quite safe. He said that it was maximum level of water that was received from the Sukkur Barrage downstream and is safely passing through the Kotri Barrage.

COP KILLED: Police constable Agha Hussain Shah was killed by another policeman, Iftikhar alias Imtiaz, who had been dismissed from service, here on Tuesday night.

The Cantonment police said the incident took place near the parking area of Al-Raheem phase-I outside the main gate of the police headquarters. The incident followed exchange of hot words over some matter between the two persons.

A post-mortem of the body was conducted and a case was registered against the accused on the complaint of Syed Fida Hussain.
