Haripur residents resent delay in fixing faulty tubewell
HARIPUR: Residents of different urban localities here on Sunday resented the delaying tactics by the TMA staff in fixing a faulty tubewell that has been out of order for last seven months.
Talking to mediapersons, the locals, including Nabeel Khan, Shaukat, Asif Khan, Tahir Amin and others, said the pumping machine of the tubewell of Saddar Bazaar had gone out of order seven months ago and the water supply staff of the TMA Haripur had failed to repair it despite repeated requests.
They said due to suspension of water supply from the tubewell hundreds of residents of Bahar Colony, Elementary College, Mohallah Kund, Mohallah Eidgah, Darwesh Road and surrounding localities were facing water shortage.
They said with the onset of hot summer season, especially during Ramazan, the residents of these urban localities had to purchase water from the private tankers, but the TMA staff continued ignoring the problem.
They said the residents had approached the nazims of neighborhood councils and tehsil nazim and local political administration but their problem remained unresolved due to which they had staged protests twice. They threatened to again take to the streets if the faulty pumping machine of their tubewell was not replaced in next two days.
When contacted, a TMA official said the faulty machine was expected to be replaced within next couple of days. He said the consumers of affected localities were linked to two other functional tubewells for meeting their water needs.
