Gujrat DPO transferred after promotion
GUJRAT: District Police Officer Syed Ali Mohsin, following his promotion, has been transferred with immediate effect and SSP Tauseef Haider, awaiting posting, has replaced him in Gujrat.
Mr Mohsin, recently promoted to the rank of deputy inspector general (DIG), has been directed to report to the Central Police Office (CPO), Lahore.
Though Mr Mohsin had been promoted but the notification of recent promotions is yet to be signed by the prime minister. It was being anticipated that he would be transferred from the Gujrat DPO post after issuance of the notification of promotion to BPS-20.
Mr Mohsin was posted in Gujrat in September 2018 by the coalition government of the PTI and PML-Q in Punjab. The newly posted DPO Tauseef Haider is also from the Police Service of Pakistan and serving in BPS-19 and the sources say that he may assume the charge in the next couple of days.
GAMBLERS: Police claimed to have arrested seven gamblers for betting on Sunday’s cricket match between Pakistan and India.
Asad Gujjar, a spokesman for the Gujrat police, said the Lorry Adda police had raided a place in Makka Colony near the Industrial Estate area and caught seven people gambling on the match. He said the bookmaker, Husnain Raza, was also among the arrested suspects. An amount of Rs65,000, mobile phones and an LCD had also been recovered from the suspects while a case had been lodged against them.
