Development work starts in remaining Park Enclave area

ISLAMABAD: After a lapse of three years, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Monday re-started work in the leftover areas of Park Enclave Housing Scheme.

Park Enclave was launched in 2011 and became yet another stuck-up project of the civic agency as till now 10pc of the work remains incomplete.

Whereas in its extension area, which is called Park Enclave II, no development work has started as the CDA has yet to take possession of land from the locals.

The CDA had sold around 300 plots in Park Enclave II without even getting possession of land in 2016. However, the incumbent management of CDA has decided to complete the leftover work in Park Enclave I at the earliest.

“Citizens had deposited billions of rupees in the project which remains incomplete since 2010. However, now development activities have started after a break of many years,” said a statement issued by the CDA on Monday.

CDA Chairman Amer Ali Ahmed on Monday attended the ground-breaking of the bridge in the scheme.

The bridge is being constructed at a cost of Rs86 million and according to the CDA, tenders have been awarded at rates much lower than the Notice Inviting Tender (NIT) which stood at Rs130 million.

The chairman directed the CDA staff and contractor to ensure quality work and timely completion.

He added that this was merely first of the many projects which were in the pipeline with several advertised and tenders for more to be issued in the coming days.

A CDA official said tender for development work in the leftover 10pc area of the scheme was also under process and contract will be awarded in the next couple of weeks.

When asked about Park-Enclave II, the officer said it was the responsibility of the civic agency’s land directorate to get possession of land after settling issues with the locals. After completing work in Park Enclave I, focus will then be given to Park Enclave II, he added.
