MUZAFFARGARH: A three-day mega festival at Fort Munro will begin in the mid of July that will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar.

This was announced by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Ehtesham Anwar on Friday. He said this was the first time such a mega festival was being organised for which 300 mountain climbers had been registered, adding that there will be cultural and music shows while tents and camps will be arranged for visitors.

The DC said the festival will provide exposure to the people of Muzaffargarh and Dera Ghazi Khan division and administrations of four districts were busy managing the programme under the chair of the DG Khan commissioner.

Fort Munro was a cold mountain area in south Punjab, which was 90 kilometres from the city, while the Suleiman mountain range here was also renowned.

The DC said his teams were busy renovating the rest houses of Muzaffargarh while a metal bridge, which was being constructed by Japan International Cooperation Agency, will be completed soon.

Earlier, several cultural shows were held in Dera Ghazi Khan division under Additional Commissioner Azfar Zia at Bharthi and Fort Munro.

Meanwhile, the DC also said the flood situation was under control. In Sarki and Khan Wah dykes, four contractors were busy providing it support with soil and stone dumping and erosion had been managed. The DC also said that 16 dykes had been reconstructed here in Muzaffargarh.
