Reconstruction of dangerous schools in Murree ordered
RAWALPINDI: Deputy Commissioner Ali Randhawa on Thursday asked the administration to complete the reconstruction of dangerous school buildings in Murree.
Government departments were also told to prioritise local residents in recruitments at school and health facilities in their respective areas, and to end the shortage of staff as soon as possible.
Mr Randhawa was speaking at a meeting held at his office to review development work in Murree. The meeting was attended by Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Chairman Asif Mehmood, Additional Deputy Commssioner Maleh Jamal and senior district administration officials.
The meeting was told about the PHA’s beautification drive in Murree, and that the education authority has begun recruiting teachers in government-run schools to end the staff shortage.
The deputy commissioner asked the education authority to complete the reconstruction of school buildings before the monsoon. He said schools would be refurbished and children would get new facilities.
He added that local residents would be prioritised in the hiring of teachers and other school staff, as it creates problems for local residents when teachers and staff are transferred to other areas.
The district administration is working to give Kotli Sattian the status of a tourist station, he added. He said a new eco-friendly park will be completed soon to provide recreational facilities to tourists, as will a forest rest-house in Murree.
Main roads and link roads will be improved in the current fiscal year, he added, as the government has released funds in this regard.
