Kidnapped girl recovered from Hafizabad, two suspects held
LAHORE: The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) on Sunday arrested from Hafizabad two suspects involved in kidnapping a minor girl for ransom eight days ago and recovered the child.
Addressing a press conference, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Investigations Dr Inam Waheed said Meerab, 7, of Amin Park was kidnapped from outside her house on June 29 and a case was registered with the Shafiqabad Police Station. He said Meerab’s family was receiving threat letters from the kidnappers to pay Rs5m to get their child back. He said investigation teams were constituted to recover the girl and also arrest the suspects.
Mr Waheed further said the police worked on the case by using the latest technology, recovered the girl from Hafizabad and also arrested the two kidnappers. He said the investigation teams also had recovered the vehicle used for kidnapping and transporting the girl to Hafizabad.
SSP investigation Zeeshan Asghar and CIA SP Usman Ijaz Bajwa were also present in the conference. The DIG handed over the girl to her parents and also announced commendatory certificates and cash prize for the investigation team.
