Six persons drown in Kabul River
NOWSHERA: Six persons, including two women, drowned in Kabul River in two separate incidents here on Friday.
Four persons, including two brothers and their uncle, drowned while bathing in Khairbad area.
Rescue 1122 officials identified the victims as two brothers, Zohaib, 15, Shoaib, 16, their uncle Hassan, 32, and a relative, Kamran.
Their bodies were yet to be fished out.
Meanwhile, two women drowned into the river after they slipped from Jehangira Bridge.
Rescue 1122 identified the victims as Yasir Shah’s wife, 22 and Iqbal Shah’s daughter, 16, of Tordher Swabi. Their bodies were yet to be fished out.
Meanwhile, the police shot dead two suspected terrorists in a search operation early on Friday.
The accused belonging to Gul Mathi Group of Nizampur area were allegedly involved in killing of two constables, Asfandyar and Asad, on June 25.
They were wanted to Nowshera police in different criminal cases, including killings, murder attempts and other terrorist activities, police said.
The search operation was started on a tip-off that members of Gul Mathi group were hiding in Qamer Mela forest of Nizampur.
Under direct supervision of DPO Mansoor Aman, the police teams launched search operation in the targeted area.
The outlaws opened fire on police party when they came face to face in the forest. The police retaliated the fire, killing two terrorists.
The deceased were shifted to the district headquarters hospital for autopsy. They were identified as Amjad Khan and Mahter Shah.
The police recovered two Kalashnikovs, five chargers, three hand grenades and large number of cartridges.
