In pictures: England lift the World Cup after nail-biting fight against New Zealand

England made history on Sunday when they lifted the World Cup for the first time ever. The match itself, however, may be dubbed as the best Cricket World Cup final in years to come.

The hosts, who needed a modest total of 242 for victory, ended the game on 241 all out — a tie that sent the match into a Super Over.

The six-ball shootout also ended in a tie, with both sides hitting 15 runs, but Eoin Morgan's side won by virtue of a superior boundary count in the match.
