Army donates security apparatus to Balochistan police

QUETTA: To improve security situation in Balochistan, the Pakistan Army donated the Smart Verification and Alert System (SVAS) to Balochistan Police on Monday.

Commander of Southern Command Lt Gen Asim Saleem Bajwa handed over the system to the inspector general of Balochistan Police, Mohsin Hassan Butt, at a ceremony held at the headquarters of Southern Command.

The SVAS system would enable police personnel to identify individuals passing through check posts located at the entry points of the province.

The system connected to the data network of National Database and Registration Authority would help police personnel during snap checking, sources said.

The army also handed over sniffer dogs capable of detecting explosives and narcotics hidden in vehicles.
