Benami assets: ACE to help FBR

LAHORE: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) have decided to accelerate action against undeclared (benami) properties.

The decision was taken at a meeting attended by ACE Director General Syed Ijaz Hussain Shah, FBR Commissioner Khalid Khan and other senior officials of the two institutions.

Mr Shah assured the FBR team that the ACE would fully support the move meant to check corruption. He said directions had already been issued to all field officers to provide information regarding undeclared properties on a priority basis.

Khalid Khan said after the expiry of the tax amnesty scheme, the FBR has sprung into action against owners of Benami properties.Both the departments agreed to share information regarding undeclared properties.
