Air conditioner not removed from Nawaz’ room: governor
LAHORE: Governor Chaudhry Sarwar says the opposition’s dream of toppling the government will never see the light of day.
“The vote of no confidence against Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani through secret balloting will be in his favour and the opposition will get only disappointment.
“No opposition leader is being unfairly victimised and the IG Prisons has made it clear that air conditioning has not been removed from Nawaz Sharif’s room,” the governor said.
The governor was speaking to the media after inaugurating ‘hepatitis outreach programme’ for hepatitis screening and treatment initiated by the Sarwar Foundation, in collaboration with the Jinnah Hospital, Sheikh Ijaz Trust and the University of Lahore on Saturday.
Mr Sarwar said accountability was the responsibility of departments concerned and the PTI government was supporting the departments. He said the war to eradicate corruption would not be compromised under any circumstances.
He said the nation had given mandate to the PTI for five years and after that, it would appear in front of the court of the general public who would decide with their votes.
Talking about the hepatitis programme, the governor said some 100,000 people across Punjab would be screened through the outreach programme till June 30, 2020, and those testing positive would be provided with free treatment and medicine. “Hepatitis is spreading across Pakistan very rapidly and we will have to fight against it collectively,” he added.
The governor regretted that some 20pc of the people in Punjab were suffering from hepatitis and this was a big challenge for everyone, including the government. He said some 80pc people were getting infected with the disease because of contaminated drinking water.
Considering these statistics, he added, the Punjab government had established Aab-i-Pak Authority, which would provide clean drinking water to a number of districts and villages across Punjab over a period of five years.
CHIEF MINISTER: Chief Minister Usman Buzdar says the opposition parties have no power to hold protest and remove the Senate chairman.
Saying the opposition was becoming restless to come to the power, he said and added that the rejected elements should remember that people of Pakistan had rejected their negative politics.
He said people had also rejected the call for opposition’s black day. He said the nation had complete faith in the PTI government.
