Public school converted into cattle pen

SIALKOT: Local people have converted the building of the Government Boys Primary School, Rakhaana, Sialkot, into a cattle shed in the summer vacation.

The school has no watchman to look after the building. This is the only school in the area providing better primary education to hundreds of students from surrounding villages.

This nasty situation has perturbed local students and their parents as well. Also, social, religious, educational and political circles have expressed concern over the pathetic condition of classrooms and their conversion into a cattle shed by some local influential people.

Zeeshan Haider, Ali Raza, Usama, Usman Iqbal and Nasir Mahmood, students of the school, said they went to the school to play cricket in its ground a few days ago. They were shocked to see several cattle tied there in the ground and even in classrooms.

“They have converted our school into a cattle shed,” said Zeeshan, and demanded that Chief Minister Usman Buzdar save their school and retrieve it from illegal occupants.

Students demanded Commissioner Waqas Ali Mahmood, Deputy Commissioner Dr Syed Bilal Haider and District Education Authority Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Younas Warraich to look into the matter and get retrieved this school building before the end of summer vacation.

Government schools will open after the summer vacation on Aug 16.

The Sialkot District Education Authority officials said they were not aware of the pathetic situation, however, stern departmental action would be taken against all those found responsible in this shameful act.
