One more Congo fever case surfaces

KARACHI: One more Crimean-Congo Haemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) patient has reported at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, taking the reported toll of cases to nine in this hospital since Jan 1.

A 29-year-year-old man, Zahid, resident of Orangi Town, was brought to the emergency department with fever and gum bleeding. The patient was moved to an isolation room.

The patient is a butcher by profession.

JPMC executive director Dr Seemin Jamali said a total of nine Congo-infected patients had reported to the hospital this year so far out of which five were cured and discharged, two died, one left against medical advice (LAMA), and one is admitted to the health facility.

She further informed that condition of Zahid was critical.
