A seagull snatches away a chihuahua
These notorious birds, seagulls, are quite infamous for attacking and stealing away food from passersby but this hasn’t stop there.
For instance, a few days ago, Rebecca Hill couldn’t find her pet chihuahua called Gizmo which was out in the garden. Upon investigation, it was found out that the dog was taken away by a seagull in Paignton, Devon.
A search is now being conducted in the gardens and roads surrounding Ms Hill’s home in a bid to find her pet. The mother said her daughter is now scared of seagulls, following the brazen kidnapping.
Ms Hill’s partner told her he saw a seagull take the dog, which has led many eagle-eyed residents to keep their eyes open for the ‘psycho’ bird. Some believe that the seagull may have eaten the chihuahua whole, with dog expert Wayne May claiming that it was entirely feasible.
‘Animal communicators’ from all over the world have been in touch with Ms Hill since Gizmo’s disappearance made front page news.
Cow cuddling for stress relief
People are trying every possible way to come up with soothing and mind-relaxing techniques which sometime include spending time with birds, cats and many other animals. Similarly, a New York state’s bed and breakfast’s latest offering is cow cuddling, a European stress relief technique.
Suzanne Vullers, owner of the Mountain Horse Farm in upstate New York, said she has been offering horse therapy sessions at the bed and breakfast for years, but a recent trip home to the Netherlands inspired her to add cow cuddling to her repertoire.
Amazon box birthday cake goes viral
Creating a yummy cake needs full attention and dedication of the maker, but it also needs one’s creativity to decorate it in a way that leaves others wondering if it is real or fake.
This is what happened with a North Carolina woman on her birthday when her husband had the bakery model the cake after her favourite thing: an Amazon box.
Waylon McGuire went to Sweet Dreams Bakery to get the custom-made cake for his wife, Emily, a frequent Amazon customer. The cake was modelled after an Amazon box, complete with the company’s logo and a shipping label.
“I laughed so hard. I thought it was a real box at first,” Emily McGuire told.
The steepest street in the world
The street in the coastal town of Harlech has been named the steepest in the world following a campaign by locals. The street, ‘Ffordd Pen Llech’ North Wales, UK, has been officially recorded of being at a gradient of 37 per cent — two per cent steeper than the previous record holder in New Zealand.
The Guinness World Records announced the Welsh street had wrested the title away from Baldwin Street in Dunedin, a city on New Zealand’s South Island, which has a gradient of 35 percent and has attracted tourists from all around the world.
However, locals in Harlech, led by entrepreneur and architectural historian Gwyn Headley, claimed Ffordd Pen Llech was even steeper, leading to an inspection by an independent surveyor who verified the gradient. Mr Headley, who first wondered if the street was the steepest after his car slid down it while the handbrake was fully locked, said he felt ‘utter relief’ and ‘jubilation’ following the announcement
The street runs past the medieval Harlech Castle, a Unesco World Heritage site, and is lined with houses, a shop, a caravan park, a laundry service, and a restaurant. The record measurement is based on the highest gradient over a 10m section of the road.
