Protest staged against arrest of Maryam Nawaz
RAWALPINDI: PML-N city chapter on Friday staged a protest outside the Rawalpindi Press Club against the arrest of Maryam Nawaz.
A large number of party workers and supporters led by PML-N leaders Sardar Naseem, Malik Shakeel Awan, Marriyum Aurangzeb and Sajjad Khan gathered at Committee Chowk after Friday prayer and staged the demonstration.
The protest led to traffic jam on Murree Road, causing inconvenience to commuters and pedestrians.
The participants chanted slogans against Prime Minister Imran Khan and his cabinet and in support of PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz.
Speaking on the occasion, the speakers condemned the arrest of Maryam Nawaz by NAB outside Kot Lakhpat Jail.
“Every Pakistani is denouncing the move of Imran-led regime,” Marriyum Aurangzeb said.
She alleged that the arrest of Maryam Nawaz had exposed a nexus between the government and NAB.
PML-N leader Sajjad Khan warned PM Imran Khan not to implicate N-league leadership in bogus cases.
He said the PTI had failed to deliver and due to its wrong policies, people were suffering.
Former MNA Malik Shakeel Awan said the cabinet was filled with corrupt leaders who should also be held accountable.
He said state suppression could not stop the PML-N from raising its voice for the rights of the people.
He said leaders like Imran Khan will soon have to face defeat.
