Haripur district council to solarise mosques
HARIPUR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has issued an executive order allowing the Haripur district council to provide solar system to mosques and missing facilities to basic health units in the district.
District nazim Akhtar Nawaz Khan told Dawn that the district council had approved the Rs7.135 billion budget for fiscal year 2019-20 on July 22.
He said the council also approved Rs23 million for the installation of solar panels in 30 mosques and Rs26.4 millions for medicines, rooms, repair and maintenance at BHUs.
The nazim, however, said the finance department stopped all district councils from approving and utilising funds meant for new schemes saying the current LB system would complete its four-year term on Aug 28.
He said the district council had some savings, so it wanted to spend them on the installation of solar systems in mosques and for provision of facilities to BHUs.
The nazim said C&W minister Akbar Ayub Khan met CM Mahmood Khan on Thursday and briefed him on the situation requesting him for approval as a special case and the CM approved Rs23 million for solarisation of 30 mosques in DPO, DC and district bar premises, and Rs26.4 million for missing facilities in BHUs.
He said the district council didn’t need to get the disbursement of funds from the provincial government as it had sufficient funds to meet expenses on the two projects to be executed soon after Eidul Azha.
