FBR launches software for monitoring of sales tax returns
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Tuesday launched a software called Centralised Sales Tax and FED Assessment and Processing (CSTAP) to effectively monitor sales tax returns.
FBR Chairman Syed Mohammad Shabbar Zaidi inaugurated the new software at the FBR headquarters.
"The software was developed by IR-Operations Wing of the FBR. The purpose of the software is to identify the tax gaps and to determine actual sales tax or FED liabilities of all taxpayers," reads a press release issued by the board.
Seema Shakeel from IR-Operations gave a live demonstration to the chairman on the working and application of the new software.
"This software will also be used for the purpose of expeditious processing of refund claims," the FBR statement said.
The first batch of 25 officers from field formations have been given the task to test run this project from September 11. However, after a successful trial of the project, it will be made available to all field formations throughout the country.
