Money matters

This refers to the cover story “Money matters”, (YW, July 27, 2019) by Ambreen Arshad.

The writer explained in detail about the importance of money and has also given good tips on how to save money. I agree with her points that one should clearly define one’s needs and wants in order to utilise money in a wise manner.

Learning about the value of money is very important since it is hard-earned by our parents. Also, giving money in charity is the most significant among all the uses of money mentioned, as through this way money reaches the needy people and also creates a balance in society.

I have come across friends who spend their entire pocket money without saving for future needs. Hence, I would also recommend that money received should be managed wisely to spend, save and distribute among the needy people in our society.

If this habit is developed since childhood, it will be very helpful to meet the financial challenges in future.

My Pakistan

Pakistan means home to me. I started my life there and really want to return one day. My heart beats for my Pakistan, I love each and every bit and parcel of Pakistan from the most gracious green and white flag with crescent and star to the valleys and mountains, from rivers to cities, from schools to parks, from mazars to music, from dresses to food, from markets to clubs, from Arabian Sea to my home in Sea View, from art exhibitions to flower shows, from zoo to camel rides, from halal burgers to nihari, from people to nation and from Karachi to Peshawar.

I simply love Pakistan.

I am a proud American with a Pakistani heritage. May God bless our beloved Pakistan forever and ever.

Bullying — an insight

This refers to the article Bullying — an insight by Hiba Khan, (YW, August 17, 2019). At some point or the other, all of us have either faced bullying or have bullied others.

In a lot of cases, this is unconsciously or unintentionally done, like in the case of emotional bullying when we make fun of another classmate and keep doing it until that child cries.

What we find funny and consider a joke or prank is actually very damaging to others. We must be very cautious about our conduct with others.

Teachers and adults should also be more vocal in guiding children about acceptable behaviour as today many children misbehave with others because they think that they are being smart in outsmarting others.

A true patriot

This is regarding to the story “A true patriot” by Zeeshan Nasir (August 10, 2019). I was really impressed by the idea conveyed by the author about the worth of freedom, peace and the need to help people.

It is, therefore, our duty to celebrate Independence Day each day by doing positive activities that benefits our fellow citizens and country.

Mango

This is with reference to the recipe “Mango shots” published in Cook-it-yourself section of this newspaper in (August 17, 2019) by Aamnah Arshad.

Mango, which is considered the king of the fruit, is really enthralling and luscious in taste. I appreciate the writer for telling us about such delicious recipes and desserts that can be made using mangoes, and which we students and children can easily make at home.

Threat from plastic

Plastics are extremely hazardous and harmful not only for us humans, but also post a massive threat to our surroundings and the ozone layer. In spite of knowing the adverse impact of plastics, its usage is alarmingly increasing in our country.

If urgent measures are not taken against the menace of plastic bags, then it will lead to great degradation of our environment and affect the health of its inhabitants.
