NAB raids office of mukhtiarkar as it widens probe against Khursheed Shah
SUKKUR: A team of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) raided the office of mukhtiarkar of Pano Akil on Sunday in connection with the agency’s ongoing investigations into the assets of senior Pakistan Peoples Party leader Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah.
The team closed all the doors of the office and seized all the record lying there. The detectives called all staffers and asked different questions.
Sources said the anti-graft body had written to secretary of finance office, seeking details of all contracts and funds awarded to two companies, Umar Jan & Company and Nawab Khan & Company, which were reportedly belonged to close friends of Khursheed Shah.
The sources said that directives had been issued through the letter to the officials of finance department to produce record before the inquiry team on Sept 2.
The contracts for different mega projects in Sukkur worth billions of rupees including Sports Complex, Women University, Art & Design College and others were awarded to the aforesaid companies while their budgets were also revised from time to time.
The NAB Sukkur had earlier issued letters to deputy commissioners of Dadu, Sukkur, Ghotki, Khairpur and other districts to acquire complete details of the properties owned by Khursheed Shah, his two wives, his two daughters, his elder son MPA Syed Farrukh Shah, younger son Zeerak Shah, nephew provincial minister Awais Shah and properties in the names of two other nephews.
Khursheed Shah told media persons here that though the letters had been issued to all deputy commissioners of Sindh, details had already been obtained from him and his family members. He said that he was not afraid as he had already declared his properties in nomination papers while contesting the election.
