PML-F, PPP reach seat accord in Sanghar

SANGHAR, July 31: The Faqir Dost candidates, backed by the Pakistan Muslim League (F), and the Awam Dost panel supported by the Pakistan People’s Party, have reached seat adjustment accord for 15, of 55 union councils in Sanghar district and Khipro taluka for the local body elections.

Some 1,247 candidates for councillors and 137 for nazims and naib nazims are running for 520 seats in 40 union councils.

The electioneering has picked up after candidates were allotted the election symbol.

Though some adjustments are expected in Khipro after announcement of Ghausia Jamat and devotees of Pir of Ranipur to support Faqir Dost candidates but in other talukas, a very tough contest will be witnessed between Faqir Dost and Awam Dost.

In Shahdadpur, Tando Adam and Jam Nawaz Ali talukas, the MQM enjoys a considerable majority and have deciding votes.

Tickets were only awarded to those who had earlier won the local body elections.

Neither anyone bothered to see the past or the personal credibility of the candidate nor the ideology or manifesto while doing the seat adjustments.

Though the candidates have not kicked-off corner meetings but they have become more socialized and even started throwing lavish parties.
