Kulsoom Nawaz remembered

RAWALPINDI: PML-N workers and activists organised an event on Wednesday to pay tribute to Kulsoom Nawaz, wife of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, on her first death anniversary.

Speaking at the evening, party spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said Nawaz sacrificed greatly for democracy and always fought for people’s rights and the supremacy of law.

In an emotional speech, Ms Aurangzeb said she and other party workers had lost their mother to cancer last year while their opponents called it ‘drama’.

She said Nawaz was a maternal figure for party workers, who were united under her leadership when she launched a movement against former military dictator Gen Pervez Musharraf.

She added that Sharif was confined in prison because of his struggle for democracy and he would complete Nawaz’ agenda to bring true democracy to the country.

She said that the party was united under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif and continued to follow the footsteps of Kulsoom Nawaz for the rights of the people and supremacy of law in the country.
