Khayaban-i-Amin affectees get possession letters

LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Friday handed over possession letters of plots and apartments to 472 affectees of the Khayaban-i-Amin Housing Society.

At a ceremony held at the NAB headquarters here, the possession letters of 171 apartments and 301 plots were distributed to the affectees.

According to the NAB, M/s Sahir Associates Pvt Ltd launched Khayaban-i-Amin Housing Society in 2005-6 and started booking for houses, apartments and plots in 2007 by luring the general public to buy at low prices. Its administration promised to deliver booked plots within two years but failed to do so.

After receiving multiple complaints against the housing society, the NAB said it took cognizance and got arrested one of the owners (50pc share partner) Allah Ditta Heera whereas co-accused Sahir Rasheed took pre-arrest bail.

“At the time, both the accused were on conditional bail acquired for the purpose to accommodate and adjust the issues and matters as promised with affectees of the society within the deadline being drawn by the bureau,” it said.

In October 2018, the NAB arranged a ceremony in which possession letters of 1,400 plots and 150 houses worth Rs4.70 billion were handed over to the affecttees. In May and July 2019 letters of 1,531 plots and 443 houses were also handed over to the affectees.

“Some 3,600 afeectees of the Khayaban-i-Amin Housing Society have so far been compensated due to the NAB efforts,” it said.
