CM approves housing schemes for Swat, Hangu

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Friday approved establishment of housing schemes in Dangram Swat and Hangu, while in Peshawar a housing scheme would be set up under the second phase of Khpal Kor programme.

A statement issued here said that the chief minister directed the officials while chairing a meeting of the housing department to speed up work on the ongoing and new housing schemes in the province in order to ensure their timely completion.

He said that the provincial government would ensure its contribution in the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme to meet the set targets. He also directed for timely completion of Naya Pakistan Housing Programme in Surizai area of Peshawar, which was spread over 8,500 kanals in addition to completion of Peshawar Model Town and CPEC city in Nowshera.

Directs officials to ensure timely completion of projects

Mahmood Khan said that CPEC city in Nowshera was the flagship project of the incumbent government, which was spread over 80,000 kanals at the junction of Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Hazara and Peshawar valley.

The chief minister was informed that construction work on the establishment of 20,000 estimated homes in Surizai, Peshawar, would be initiated after signing of MoU with Pakistan Housing Authority Foundation.

About CPEC city in Nowshera, he was informed that a total of 40,000 kanals had already been acquired whereas possession of the remaining 40,000 kanals was under process. The chief minister directed the concerned departments to extend their complete cooperation in acquisition of land.

The chief minister was informed that 1,877 plots were being established in Peshawar, Nowshera, Abbottabad and Kohat under the Khpal Kor Housing Scheme whereas 371 plots had already been allotted under the Mullazai Housing Scheme at Warsak Road, Peshawar.

Similarly, 50 per cent development work has been completed on the Jalozai Housing Scheme, which is spread over 8,905 kanals.

Moreover, the service centres of Provincial Housing Authority have been established in Peshawar, Swat, Kohat and Abbottabad.
