Wonder Craft: Footrest stool

Hey kids, tired of sitting for a long time? Perhaps it’s time you should give some rest to your legs and stretch them straight or put your feet on a stool.

Wait, you don’t have it? Why not make one just for you without spending a rupee? Yes, you read that right and that is possible, if you have empty plastic bottles! So, let’s start today’s project.

Things you need:

  1. Empty plastic bottles (at least seven, you can use more to make a wider stool). Use a litre or half-a-litre bottles, but all should be of one size.

  2. Two pieces of hardboard 12 inches long and 12 inches wide

  3. White glue or hot glue

  4. Duct tape

  5. Old T-shirt and old soft clothes

  6. Foam sheet optional

Directions:

  1. Arrange all the bottles in a circular shape, as in picture 2. If you are using more than seven, then keep them in a circle.

  2. Carefully paste duct tape around all the bottles, pictures 3 and 4.

  3. If you have a foam sheet wrap it around, if not, then use an old cloth and wrap it around the bottles, picture 5.

  4. Cut two circles according to the diameter of now tied bottles from the hardboard. This hardboard is to be used on the top and on the bottom of the bottles, picture 6.

  5. If you are using hot glue, ask an elder to do this step: paste hot glue on one side of hardboard to be used at the bottom then paste glue on the other piece of the hardboard to be used on the top, picture 7.

  6. I happen to have foam sheet so I put that on top of the hardboard, but you can use old soft cloth and put it carefully on the top, picture 8.

  7. Take the old T-shirt and put that around the bottle stool, picture 9. Use glue where necessary.

  8. Use a different coloured cloth on top of the stool, picture 10.

Your very own leg/footrest stool is ready!

Note: This stool is strong enough to hold a load of 15kg and less. But if you put more than that, it can collapse.
