PM to discuss Kashmir situation with Trump: Qureshi

NEW YORK: Pakistan will convey the real situation in India-held Kashmir to US President Donald Trump when Prime Minister Imran Khan meets him on Monday, the country’s top diplomatic said on Sunday.

Briefing reporters here, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood stressed the need for peacefully ending the Afghan war, which has continued for more than 18 years now.

“When the prime minister meets President Trump tomorrow, he will share with him what’s happening in occupied Kashmir, the real situation,” said Mr Qureshi.

The foreign minister was commenting on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s claim that India had annexed Kashmir to uproot terrorism and bring prosperity to the occupied valley.

Mr Qureshi recalled that India has imposed an indefinite curfew in the valley since Aug 5, when it annexed the occupied territory. He also recalled how India had severed all communication links to Kashmir to hide what its’ forces were doing there.
